To Grow the Sport of Adventure Racing through Education, Exposure, and Experience
NMARC exists as a non-profit organization for the purpose of growing the sport of adventure racing in New Mexico through promotion, education, and race experiences. We provide opportunties for the novice and experienced racer to develop their skills and meet others who share a love of the outdoors and a desire to improve their skills to compete in adventure racing.
NMARC was formed in early 2004 by Deb McFarland and Steve Prickett. Deb had recently moved to New Mexico from the Chicago area and was interested in joining a group of novice adventure racers together for training and socializing. She didn’t find any club or group that existed for that purpose in the area so she decided to form her own. In her recruiting efforts she met Steve Prickett who also had an interest in adventure racing and knew about forming clubs. Together, they formed the New Mexico Adventure Racing Club in May 2004.
The NMARC formed early in 2004 to foster the knowledge and skills among our club, from beginners to advanced racers, to successfully participate in the growing sport of Adventure Racing. NMARC organizes training and social events, as well as intra-club races to develop our individual and team skills. We are a non-profit organization and raise money through club dues, fundraising events, and sponsorships. We hope you find everything you need here on our site.
We are always seeking new sponsors, particularly for our sprint adventure race series. We have several sponsorship packages available. If you are interested or would like more information on becoming one of our sponsors, please contact one of the officers.
